Let's see if any of you guys can help me out here:
I have a -97 Savage on wich I recently replaced the turnsignals, the only thing that is any different from the originals are that I use the chassis as ground as opposed to the original wich has that extra wire...
Eveything worked just fine until suddenly yesterday when I was on my way home. No lights! As in no headlight or rear light or instrument lights what so ever,UNLESS I use BOTH brakes AT THE SAME TIME!! Then everything lights up just fine for as long as they both are applied!?! HUH?!?!?
I AM confused... Apart from the headlight and taillight and that the brake light doesn't come on when I apply the front brake, everything works just fine... Starts ok, runs ok, stops ok, turnsignals ok, horn ok, neutral light ok, rear brake light ok, "passing" -light ok,... What IS wrong?? I have even tried to ground that extra turnsignal cable, to no effect... Could a faulty ground in the turnsignals cause a headlight blackout?? The signals themselves work great... Even dissassembled the controls for a check with an ohmmeter, but everything looked ok to me...The fact that everything lights up fine when I use both brakes is even more confusing...??!?
Any ideas where to look for the error??
Bordering on desperate,
/Ulf
Special note to Jon: Thanks for the tank, I haven't started on it yet though, been to busy riding this hot summer!! Will let You know of the finished result!
